Our Meeting for the week was Superintendent Ben Carson and Stormy Cullom who did a Back to School Presentation to promote the Liberty-Eylau Independent School District.
Stormy demonstrated using web 2.0 technology as an educational tool for learning by giving our rotary club a pop quiz over the 90s! (Cruncher “90’s Champ” Gant took first place!)
Thank you Ben and Stormy for all you are doing for our students and our community!
‘Today we welcomed Frances Cash Ugwaybu as a new member to our club. Membership Director Tiffany Kirkland welcomed Frances with the help of her sponsor, Winford Dunn.
Our own Becky Kessler, Superintendent for Texarkana, Arkansas schools, gave a presentation on the district, recapping her first year in this position.
Becky highlighted a number of infrastructure changes as well as some new program events like a back to school fair that went over in great form.
Becky is especially proud of her staff and made a prediction on the 100th anniversary Arkansas-Texas High football game in two weeks that her students are especially fast this year having won a number of track and field event – she has high hopes for an upset this year!’

This years Jamboree was held at the Summit in West Virginia. Each participant was able to take part in a zip line canopy tour, challenge course, climbing & rappelling, mountain biking, kayaking, archery, shooting, and more!
Thank you for your presentation Mr. Norton! It sounds like there are plenty of opportunities for adventure, service, and leadership when you are a member of the Boy Scouts of America!

Nicholas said his host families were very kind and grateful to have him. While in Japan, Nicholas tasted many interesting foods, talked with local students, and found out the people in Japan love baseball, and the Texas Rangers!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with our club Nicholas. We know it was an experience you will never forget!
